KCS Integrated Watercolor Unit
One of the goals for VIPHS teacher trainings this year was to build Units that integrated the Key Cognitive Strategies framework and improve our student conferencing. We worked together in PLCs to develop rubrics and other materials for an existing unit. I chose to work on a watercolor unit for my Drawing and Painting classes. I created a rubric for the unit that was built on standards from the KCS Mastery Rubric for Visual Art. At the outset of the unit students received the rubric and we talked as a class about the concepts I was hoping each student would master or improve upon during the unit. The photo above shows a board I made to help guide students during individual conferences.
Standout Students
Many students performed well on this unit, but there were a few pieces that really stood out. The gallery below highlights some outstanding examples from Presley(11th), Gabe(11th), Sasha(10th), Bella(12th), and Lily(10th).
